Help Us Help the Children’s Hospital Colorado

Today, we have a pretty important request for everyone in our community!

You may remember us sharing Quintin Lovato’s story. (If you missed it, you can read more here.).

Quintin attends Brush Creek and has suffered with Epilepsy since he was four and Tourette’s since the age of six and a half. Due to this illness, he recently stayed at the Children’s Hospital, and while there, Quintin and his family came up with a new Team Q-Man Community Service Project.

Currently, at the Children’s Hospital Colorado, each patient room has an XBOX 360, but there aren’t dedicated games for the children. And because there is such a small selection, often children staying at the hospital cannot play games during their stay because of the shortage of games available.

Quintin knows from experience that with each hospital stay he looks forward to the video games because he doesn’t usually get to play them at home due to them being a seizure trigger.

This is where we need your help! We want to help Children’s Hospital grow their collection.

  • Please help Quintin collect “rated E” XBOX 360 games and remotes to be donated to Children’s Hospital Colorado at his next appointment.
  • Please make sure all donations are in “the office” by Thursday, February 7, as Quintin will be delivering them at his next appointment on the following Friday.

Thank you so much in advance for helping support Quintin! Your contributions will bring happiness to children who are not in the best circumstances and could use some fun and joy in their lives.

Community Member Spotlight: Ron Steele

I think we can all agree that our children’s safety on a daily basis ranks as being pretty darn important!

Which is why, today, we’re excited to introduce you to Ron Steele – a very important man who keeps our kids safe every morning and every afternoon at the intersection of Sylvan Lake Road and Eagle Ranch Road!

Ron has been a volunteer crossing guard for the past four years at this location. The reason why he started volunteering just illustrates further Ron’s genuine concern for our community and the children who walk or ride bikes across the intersection each morning and afternoon.

“I’d always seen a female police officer at that crosswalk when I’d drive by, but then one day she was not there,” shared Ron.

So, Ron headed to the police station to inquire. He was told that the officer had moved out of state and that no one was currently serving as a crossing guard there any longer.

Ron didn’t’ want that to be the case! “That intersection seems to be getting busier and busier, especially in the mornings. It just didn’t seem right that those kids didn’t have a crossing guard there to help keep them safe,” shared Ron.

After a lengthy background check, fingerprinting and some mentoring by a local officer, Ron officially became the crossing guard at Sylvan Lake Road and Eagle Ranch Road, and we’re so lucky to have him.

Ron shared that he’s beyond grateful to do the job. “It’s great to know that I am able to give back to a community I love so much. I’m retired so I have some free time and this also keeps me young and gives me a reason to get up bright and early every morning. The smiles on the kids’ faces every morning really does make my day. And, the parents are so thoughtful! They’ve brought me coffee and other gifts, and it’s great to chat with them.”

Prior to moving to Eagle, Ron and his wife, Sheila, lived preliminary in Indianapolis, Indiana, but also had a condo in Beaver Creek. Once they retired, they knew they wanted to call Eagle their home full-time.

They enjoyed their time in Beaver Creek, but loved the small town feel of Eagle. So, they purchased a home in 2012 and have been full-time residents since 2015. Ron also volunteers on the Volunteer Police Committee in Eagle.

Ron, from the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank you for volunteering your time to ensure our kids are safe! Thank you so much for what you do!

Project Spotlight: Welk Resorts

We feel pretty blessed that we have the opportunity to contribute to such beautiful facilities in our area!

Who wouldn’t want to get out of bed in the morning to go to a job site that is located on six acres of a scenic bend in the Blue River, minutes from world-class Breckenridge Ski Resort?

Well, we were lucky enough that have that very opportunity recently! Our team served as the sub-contractor for this Welk Resorts project and was in charge of contributing the following to this very exciting project:

  • Framing and siding the entire structure
  • Installing all the windows and doors
  • Building all decks and timber details
  • All exterior siding and trim
  • Building an employee housing building

In total, we contributed over 110,000 square feet of additions and renovations to this amazing resort! In addition to being grateful for Welk Resorts, we are also so happy that we had the chance to support RA Nelson – the General Contractor on the project.

Here’s what our owner Todd Morrison had to say about this wonderful experience…

“This was such an amazing experience for our team. Welk Resorts is known for their five beautiful properties in San Diego, Palm Springs and Lake Tahoe in California, Cabo San Lucas at the southern tip of Baja, Mexico, and in Branson, MO. So, to see them come to Breckenridge was exciting news, especially since our team was able to contribute!”

If you’re interested in learning more about Welk Resorts and how they carefully design with the needs of owners and guests in mind to provide unique, first-class accommodations and experiences, take a look at their website.

Project Spotlight: Vail Resorts – Corral Signage

With ski season in full swing and a whole heck of a lot more snow than we had this time last year, we’re excited to share with you one of our recent projects at Vail Resort!

You might remember in 2016,  we completed a ski signage project at Vail Resorts to provide patrons, particularly out-of-town guests, with clearer signage on how to access Chairs 3 and 4 amidst the Mid Vail confluence.

Well, this year’s project was just as exciting and a big contribution to the mountain! In October, our team installed two new corral signs for Chair 3 & 4 for Vail Resorts on the other side of the lift, i.e. THE Legendary Back Bowl Signage!

These new signs are helping direct skiers and snowboarders to the chairlifts with even more ease, making this awesome area of the hill even more easy to navigate.

Here’s what our company owner Todd Morrison had to say about the project…

We absolutely love working with Vail Resorts, Incorporated. They are such a valued client, so anytime that have a new project for us, we’re beyond thrilled to jump in and help in any way we possibly can!

It’s also great to know we’re giving back to the ski and snowboard community and creating a wonderful experience for everyone at Vail Resorts.”

In addition to this project and the one in 2016, the PCW team has had the opportunity to contribute to projects that date back to 2011!

So, the next time you’re in this area of the resort, keep an eye out for the new signs! Cheers to a great 2018-2019 ski and boarding season. Have fun out there!
