Local Company Spotlight: Pillar to Post – The Moran Team

Today, we’re excited to introduce you to an amazing company that is located right here in Eagle – Pillar To Post Home Inspections! This wonderful company is led by The Moran Team – Michael and Kim Moran. And, not only are they a wonderful company, but they also have an incredible story.

Michael and Kim had lived in Colorado for over 20 years when Kim was offered a job in Philadelphia. The couple decided to make the move, and while there, Michael purchased a franchise through Pillar to Post. It turns out, the two missed Colorado immensely and decided to head back to their roots.  

Although the move didn’t turn out as planned, it was one that led them to where they are today. They were able to purchase the same franchise in the Eagle area in 2014 and have been creating happy clients ever since!

Community Spotlight: Gaby Fuentes

As you know, we are huge supporters of people and companies doing great things in our community! Today, we are beyond thrilled to share with you a great story about a very special young woman — Gaby Fuentes.

ABOUT GABY FUENTES

Gaby is an honor student at Eagle Valley High School, a dedicated athlete (basketball, track and cross-country), participates in SOS Outreach (a youth development non-profit) and is actively involved in Children Global Alliance.

Yes, she’s only in high-school and is already doing so many amazing things for her school, community and world!

GABY + CHILDREN’S GLOBAL ALLIANCE

Gaby was recently chosen to be a part of a service trip to Morocco this year with Children’s Global Alliance, a nonprofit organization. She has been working hard at a local corner store in town to reach her fundraising goal of $3,500, which will cover her cost to participate.

In Morocco, she will be teaching hand-picked students in Abde Salan Middle School of kids that

are the most eager to learn, from grades 7-9. The school is home to 520 students and has a high-dropout rate. She is extremely excited to be teaching English in a team to these students who want to learn our language and be admired.

The process to get into this organization and be able to go on a service trip is very difficult. With

only around ten students selected for each trip. From essays to interviews they want to know that you are mentally, and physically ready to take on the challenge, and Gabby is ready to gain knowledge not just from what she will teach but by what she’s taught, because there is no scale that could measure her love of going on these service trips.

WHAT GABY HAD TO SAY ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS TRIP

“To go to Morocco, would be a great experience for me, and would show me the best of the world, how it interacts with one other to create balance on our earth. I believe that everyone needs a great life, and must live it to the fullest.

I have traveled previously to Japan as an exchange student, it changed my perspective, and opened my eyes, in the short month that I was there. I have done three other service trips as well, two of them with this same organization. I traveled to Tanzania, in which I taught to some beautiful souls that were so eager to gain knowledge.

This past summer I went to Cambodia, where I volunteered at an orphanage, and taught at a school nearby, their smiles, and laughter was contagious, and the work itself, was very rewarding.”

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: SHELLI FULLHART

We are grateful that there are so many great companies in our community that we’ve had the opportunity to share with you.

But, today, we’re veering away from companies, and are so excited to introduce to a very special human being in our community — Shelli Fullhart!

Shelli is the PE teacher at Brush Creek Elementary School, where our kids attend school. We really cannot express the massive, positive impact Shelli has had on our kids and so many others through her hard work, encouragement and pushing them to believe in things that might seem out of reach.

Here’s a bit more about what makes this woman so extraordinary!

Shelli was one of the first hires at Brush Creek Elementary School over 17 years ago, and to-date, is PE teacher for the entire school – over 450 kiddos.

Fun side note: Shelli not only knows each and every child’s name, their parents names and personalities, but also comes up with fun and unique nicknames for them!

Shelli doesn’t stop at being an amazing role model to our kids during the PE period. She has gone above and beyond to create some extraordinary traditions as well, including the Brush Creek Biathlon.

This legendary events takes place every year in May, and is a huge community tradition!

Shelli saw that there were some challenges for fifth graders transitioning from elementary to middle school, and came up with this excellent solution.

“It’s sometimes hard for kids to move into middle school. The transition involves new routines, new classmates and being in an entirely new environment. To give the kids a self-esteem boost, I created the Biathlon. It really helps them realize how awesome they are and that middle school is not anything to be scared of, but rather an exciting new journey,” shared Shelli.

All fifth graders participate in this event, which entails a ½ mile run, a 3-mile bike ride and another ½ mile run. This year there will be 88 kids participating, and to ensure everyone can participate, Shelli buys bikes for kids who don’t have one!

The positive impact that this event has had, along with Shelli’s innate caring, nurturing and encouraging nature, is evident in the fact that kids have come back to her years later to thank her for her inspiration and to let her know the positive impact she’s had on their lives.

This includes Olympian athlete Jake Pates!

In a recent article in the Denver Post, Jake personally thanked Shelli for believing in him and encouraging him. Here’s a snippet from the article:

So here’s to Shelli Fullhart, a teacher at Brush Creek Elementary in Eagle, for nurturing what snowboarder Jake Pates called this “insane idea I had as kid about going to the Olympics.”

Shelli is currently working on finding a time for Jake to come to the school to share his story with the students. Talk about inspiring!

The Denver Broncos + Brush Creek

Prior to the Broncos winning the Super Bowl, Shelli lead the charge in creating support for them. She and the kids at Brush Creek created and sent cheers for the team each and every week.

The Broncos saw just how fantastic Shelli was! After winning the Super Bowl, the team came to the school – cheerleaders, players and the mascot – to lead a football clinic for the entire school.

“We are so blessed that our kids have such a spectacular role model in their lives. Shelli has such a huge impact on these kids and our community, and we’re beyond grateful for her. I really wish that I could go back to elementary school and have a teacher like her!” shared Todd. 

It’s no surprise that Shelli was awarded the Teacher of the Year award in 2017!

When Shelli isn’t inspiring children at Brush Creek, you can find her taking advantage of a variety of outdoor activities, including backcountry skiing and mountain biking with Indy – her Goldendoodle.

Shelli, on behalf of the community, students and parents at Brush Creek, we wanted to sincerely thank you for everything you do on a daily basis! You really are one of a kind.

Project Spotlight: Lime Park Drive

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We love working on custom home builds! There’s something special about knowing that we’re contributing to a place where a family will spend holidays, share laughter and build memories.

So, today, we’re excited to share with you custom home project we are working on at 0133 Lime Park Drive in Eagle Ranch.

It has been such an honor to work with Architect Scott S. Turnipseed and General Contractor (and property owner) Bob Hampton! These two gentlemen have contributed a great deal of insight and craftsmanship to the project, and we’re very grateful for them both.

This custom home build requires our team to utilize their extensive knowledge about mountain building. The weather can be unpredictable, and the terrain can often be a challenge, but we’re happy to say, this project continues to be a success for the PCW team!

So far, we have been able to get this four-bedroom, Thermasteel Frame, 2,878 square foot house’s framing, roof, and siding done in less than three months! There’s still more work to do, so we’re excited for what lies ahead of us.

“I have been in construction my entire career – over 35 years. I moved to Eagle County 6 months ago and wanted to find a good general contractor. I have hired PCW to do all the work on my new home at Lime Park Drive in Eagle Ranch.
